New Choral Speaking Script


My students had a hard time memorizing the script that I had previously blogged about. So, I wrote a new one which is much easier to be memorized. However, I find it a tad too tacky.It also contains very few English words.

Title: Let's go and eat

All:(Let’s go and eat, let’s go and eat, let’s go and eat, let’s go and eat!)
Individual girl: Mr. Edward, welcome to Miri, have you eaten?
Individual boy: No, I haven’t. I am hungry now.
Individual girl:Hungry?
Individual boy: Yes, I am starved!
Individual girl:Poor Mr. Edward, there are many yummy foods in Miri.
Individual boy:What are they?
Individual girl:They are:

All: Hot and fragrant Nasi Lemak!
Hot and piquant Laksa Sarawak!
Fried Koay Tiaw!
Fried Noodles!
Slurpy soup Noodles!
Wantan Noodles!
Crispy and flaky Roti Canai!
Martabak!
Crunchy and savoury Rojak!

Individual boy:Wow, they sound mouth-wateringly-delicious!
Individual girl:Mr. Edward, many traditional cakes can also be found in Miri.
Individual boy: What are they?
Individual girl:They are:

All: Fried crullers!
Ham Jing Bian!
Chai Kueh!
Penyaram!
Pulut Panggang!
Kuih Talam!
Kuih Bingkar!
Seri Muka!
Kuih Sepit!

Individual boy:Holy-moly, they make my stomach growling!
By the way, any special drinks in Miri?
Individual girl:Yes, there are quite many special drinks in Miri, such as:
All: Teh O Peng!
Kopi Peng!
Teh C
Foamy Teh Tarik!
Refreshing Coconut water!
Pearl Milk Tea!
Lemon Peng!

Individual boy: What about fruits?
Individual girl:Mr. Edward, there are simply too many fruits to mention. They are:
All: Durians!
Rambutans!
Mangoes!
Guavas!
Cikus!
Langsats!
Papayas!
Dragon Fruits!
Pamelos!
So On and So Forth!

Individual boy:Any desserts?
Individual girl:Yes, we have:

All: Cendol!
Special!
ABC!
Iced Longans!
Bubur Chacha!

Individual boy:Goodness me, I am hungry to the hilt now.
Individual girl:What would you like to eat, Mr. Edward?
Individual boy:I am so hungry that I can eat ten horses!
Individual girl:So?
Individual boy:I want to eat and drink all the foods and drinks you have mentioned!
Individual girl: What!? Are you sure?
Individual boy:Yeah!
Individual girl:Jom, let’s go and eat now!
Individual boy:Hurray!

All:(Let’s go and eat, let’s go and eat, let’s go and eat, let’s go and eat!)

I have one problem now. I do not have enough time to train my students for the impending inter-school competition. I have barely a week to train the students after a week of school break.

I attended a creative writing workshop in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah last Saturday. It was organized by Jude Day, president of Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah(SPARKS), The invited speaker was Robert Raymer, a Sarawak-based American writer who is a lecturer of creative writing at Universiti Sarawak Malaysia. The title is originally 'A Realisation As An Overaged Art Student' but it was changed to something cringeworthy. My Life as a Boarder at St. Patrick's

The first time I came to Kuching was in 1990. Failing to secure a place in government schools after the SPM, I enrolled in the sixth  form  at the now defunct school on Stampin Road, St. Patrick's. It was my first time away from the comfort of home, and I was staying in the school ’s  wooden boarding house, naturally fe eling  emotionally challenged. In the first few months of my stay, I was wrought with unmitigated homesickness, which sapped my confidence, energy, and optimism for life. My weight plunged, and it took a toll on my health.
