My Student's Writing II

Name: Khairunnisa ‘Athaillah
Class  : 1 Achiever
Topic  : A Robbery
I could not sleep tonight. I felt uncomfortable. I tried to count until a hundred but I still could not sleep. I felt thirsty and went to the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator and drank some orange juice to quench my thirst. After that, I went back to my bedroom.
The needle on the wall clock in my room pointed to 12. I still could not sleep. I felt very hot so I changed the temperature of my air- conditioner to 15 degree Celsius. Everybody was deep in their slumber except me. I switched on the television in front of my bed and watched the ‘Spongebob Squarepants’ cartoon show.
When drowsiness began to sink in my system, a sound like broken glass from outside jerked me awake. I switched off the television and opened the window to investigate where the sound came from. I saw a tall shadowy figure looming behind my neighbour’s house. Chill crawled down my spine and my instinct told me that a thief was trying to get into my neighbour’s house through the window. A robbery was going to happen.
I picked up my cell phone and called the police. I woke up my parents and told them the incident. With bated breath, we walked to our neighbour’s house very quietly like mice. Unfortunately, the thief saw us when he was trying to get out from the house with his spoil. He wanted to escape but we stopped him. He was very angry and caught hold of my little brother, threatening to kill him.
While my parents were trying to stop him from harming my brother, I ran into our house to get a broom. I snuck up silently behind the thief and bludgeoned his head with the broom stick until he fainted. My brother ran into my mother’s arms, crying loudly.
Five minutes later, the police reached my neighbour’s house and arrested the thief. My neighbor and his family were very surprised to hear that a thief had broken into their house. They thanked us gratefully.
