PT3 Composition - Mother's Day

Question: Write how you celebrated Mother's Day with your family and emphasize its importance.

The moment we saw mother pulling her Myvi into the garage, we turned off the lights and scurried into the kitchen. John struck a match and lighted all the candle sticks on Mother's cake and I thrust the roses I had bought into Juliet's little hands.  Father put his finger to his lips and motioned for us not to make any noise.

The door knob clicked and mother entered the house.  "Why is the house dark?" Mother said to herself. "Where is everybody?"

The bewilderment in mother's voice made us have a hard time stifling our giggle.  Poor mother, due to her tight work schedule, she had been unaware that it was Mother's Day today.

"Okay, everyone," father said in an undertone. "Let's go out now and give your mum a surprise."

Excitedly, we came out from our hiding and in one voice, shouted 'Happy Mother's Day'.  The candles on the cake illuminated the room and we could see the surprise look on mother's face.

Father turned on the lights and mother pressed her hands against her cheeks in disbelief.  On the wall we had put up a banner which read, 'Happy Mother's Day. We Love You Very Much, Mum'.  "Why all the trouble?" said mother, smiling.  Father took mother's hand and led her to the dining table.  John put the cake on the table and said, "Mum, we ordered your favourite cake, mango cheesecake."

Mother sat down and blew the candles on the cake.  We all cheered and clapped our hands.  Juliet gave mother the roses and mother kissed her cheek. Mother's eyes were glinting with tears. She hugged all of us and said she was proud of us.

Our dinner was superb.  Mother was impressed by our cooking and she gave us a thumbs up.  After dinner, father strummed his guitar and we sang mother an evergreen hit 'Mother Of Mine'.  The atmosphere was full of love and bliss.

We never miss celebrating Mother's Day.  It is a day for us to show our appreciation for mother's love and care.  She gave birth to us and has been our pillar of strength and support through thick and thin.  Without her, we wouldn't be what we are.  We love you, mother and may God bless you.
