Bad English

At school I am notorious for my bad English.  I don't know why my colleagues and students like to look at me that way. Ya, I am bad in class control, but that doesn't mean my English is worse than the other teachers.  At one time I sat in for a colleague's lesson and when I told his students that I would give them a quiz, a student rose and said, "Mr Lo, our English is good enough. We don't want the least knowledgeable teacher to give us a quiz."

Two days ago, a colleague saw me reading a novel.  Not knowing that I understand Hokkien, she spoke to a Chinese Language teacher, " No matter how many books he has read, his English remains bad and hopeless."

Admittedly, I made a lot of blunders in my first three years of teaching. They are standing jokes at my school.

I received a lucrative incentive for my CPT but many of my colleagues said that I got it out of sheer luck. Their score range is A to B2.

If my English is really bad and hopeless, why does the school management keep asking me to write speeches for VIPs? Are they not afraid that I will bring the school disgrace?

How I wish to have a change of the environment. But I love my school. I don't want to part with it.
