Form Two Writing Competition

(Amelia Natasha Dora’s Essay): Mother

I love you mother. There are many things about you that I love and appreciate. In this essay, I am going to write about how you have touched my heart.

Mother, oh my beautiful mother. Born with the name Connie, about an inch taller than I am. We both have similar hairstyles, short and straight but yours is slightly longer and highlighted in lighter shades of brown. You have a smile that puts the bright rays of sunshine to shame, and a voice that is sweeter than honey or any other sugary snack that exists around the globe. You look so young despite being in your late 30’s and every mother that I know envies and fusses over your natural looks.

Mother, oh my admirable mother. You work so hard everyday and night, earning money to keep your family living well. Despite the deep eye bags underneath your eyes, and your sacrifice in doing the best for me, you still manage a smile, taking whatsoever difficulties in your stride.

Mother, oh my caring mother. You have always put my happiness above your own. You buy me things that I want, and do things that I wish. Whenever I feel unhappy or depressed, you are always there to offer a shoulder, or give me a few words of advice on my problems and complications. You have always spent time with me despite your busy schedule, and that makes me feel so guilty over your health, yet so grateful.

There are so many other things that I want to write, but I do not know how to express my feelings into mere words on a piece of paper. So mother, oh my mother, I thank you for everything. I thank you for the smiles, the laughter and the tears that we share.

I love you mother.
